Tension gripped the national capital after a protest march organised under the CJP (Chalo Jammu Protest) banner turned confrontational near Parliament Street. The situation escalated when a section of protesters allegedly attempted to breach police barricades while marching towards Parliament, prompting security personnel to resort to a lathicharge to disperse the crowd.
According to officials, elaborate security arrangements had been put in place around the Parliament complex, with multiple layers of barricading and a heavy deployment of Delhi Police personnel to prevent any disruption in the high-security zone. As demonstrators pushed through the barricades, police intervened to restore order, leading to brief clashes between protesters and security forces.
Several protesters reportedly sustained minor injuries during the confrontation, while some were detained and later taken away from the protest site. The demonstration had been organised to press for various public demands, with participants raising slogans and carrying placards.
Authorities have appealed for peace and urged citizens to follow lawful methods of protest. Traffic movement in parts of central Delhi was temporarily affected before normalcy was gradually restored following the police action.
