The Uttarakhand government has temporarily suspended the ongoing Char Dham Yatra following persistent heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions across several parts of the state. The decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of thousands of pilgrims travelling to the sacred shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
Continuous rainfall has triggered landslides, road blockages, and the risk of flash floods in various hilly regions, disrupting transportation and increasing the possibility of accidents. Authorities have advised pilgrims to stay at designated safe locations and avoid unnecessary travel until weather conditions improve.
State disaster response teams, police personnel, and local administration have been deployed to monitor the situation, clear blocked roads, and assist stranded travellers wherever required. Pilgrims have also been urged to follow official advisories and remain in contact with local authorities for the latest updates.
The temporary suspension reflects the administration’s commitment to prioritising public safety. Officials have assured that the pilgrimage will resume once the weather stabilises, routes are declared safe, and all essential services are restored.
