Flash Flood Hits Chashoti, Starting Point of Machail Mata Yatra

A sudden flash flood hit Chashoti in Kishtwar district, Jammu & Kashmir, on Wednesday, disrupting normal life and triggering an urgent rescue response. The area, known as the starting point of the Machail Mata Yatra, saw rapidly rising water levels that posed risks to both pilgrims and locals.

Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police, and local administration have been deployed to the spot. Authorities are working to relocate people from vulnerable areas and ensure no one is stranded.

Officials have issued advisories urging residents and pilgrims to avoid venturing near water bodies until conditions stabilize. Continuous monitoring is underway, and emergency services remain on high alert. The extent of damage and potential casualties is yet to be officially confirmed as rescue operations continue.
