The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday carried out multiple raids in Jammu and Udhampur as part of a money laundering probe into alleged illegal grabbing of custodian land. According to official sources, at least nine locations in Jammu and one in Udhampur were searched under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The raids were linked to Patwari officials Pranav Dev Singh and Rahul Kai, along with Naib Tehsildar Akeel Ahmed, among others. The case stems from a 2022 FIR registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (Central) of J&K Police regarding corruption and manipulation of land belonging to evacuees from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The ED’s action is seen as a major step in cracking down on corruption and safeguarding state land.
