The flood situation in Kathua has worsened as both the Ujh and Ravi rivers have crossed their respective flood alert levels following continuous rainfall in the region. At Panjtirthi, the Ujh River is discharging 59,750 cusecs, well above the alert mark of 48,000 cusecs, though still below the danger level of 88,000 cusecs. Meanwhile, the Ravi River is flowing at 524.97 m MSL, exceeding its alert level of 523 m MSL and approaching the danger mark of 527.91 m MSL. Authorities have issued advisories, urging residents in low-lying areas to remain cautious and avoid venturing near riverbanks as a precautionary measure.
