Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra Resumes After 22-Day Suspension in Reasi

Reasi, J&K – Amid chants of ‘Jai Mata Di’, the sacred pilgrimage to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine atop Trikuta hills resumed on Wednesday after a 22-day suspension. The yatra had been halted following a devastating landslide in Reasi that claimed 34 lives and left 20 injured.

Officials of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) confirmed that the pilgrimage restarted at 6 AM from both routes leading to the shrine. Hundreds of devotees, who had been camping in Katra, the base camp, expressed relief and joy as they began the spiritual journey once again.

To ensure safety and transparency, RFID-based tracking continues to remain mandatory for all pilgrims. Authorities have urged devotees to carry valid identification, follow designated tracks, and fully cooperate with on-ground staff.

The reopening of the yatra marks a significant moment of resilience and devotion, as thousands of faithful continue to reaffirm their faith despite recent hardships.
