Rajouri, J&K – A massive joint search and rescue operation is currently underway across Mubarakpura, Keriyan, and Palullian villages in Rajouri district after a 20-year-old youth was reportedly swept away in a sudden flash flood.
According to officials, the victim was attempting to cross a local stream on foot when a sudden surge in water flow washed him away.
Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Jammu & Kashmir Police, Civil Defence, and Home Guards were immediately mobilized and have been tirelessly searching for the missing individual since yesterday.
Despite challenging terrain and strong water currents, authorities are using every resource available—including sniffer dogs, drones, and divers—in hopes of finding the youth alive.
The local administration has also urged residents to stay cautious near water bodies as the region continues to face unpredictable weather.
