Ladakh Activist Sonam Wangchuk Arrested Under NSA After Protests for Statehood

Ladakh statehood activist Sonam Wangchuk has been arrested under the stringent National Security Act (NSA) following allegations of inciting a mob with provocative statements. The law allows long preventive detention without bail, and Wangchuk is likely to be moved out of Ladakh soon, sources said. His arrest comes just a day after he declared willingness to face detention for the statehood cause. Authorities also suspended internet services across Ladakh to prevent the spread of misinformation and maintain law and order amid ongoing protests demanding constitutional safeguards and statehood for the Union Territory.
