Kathua’s Anekha Devi selected for India’s Women’s Blind Cricket World Cup

Bringing pride to Jammu and Kashmir, 20-year-old Anekha Devi from Machhedi village, Kathua, has been selected to represent India in the inaugural Women’s T20 Blind Cricket World Cup, scheduled from November 11 to 25. An all-rounder, Anekha is the only player chosen from North India. Born with B2-level visual impairment, she initially excelled in judo before turning to cricket under the mentorship of her uncle, Ajay Kumar. With no women’s blind cricket team in J&K, she shifted to Delhi and impressed selectors with her performance. Her story reflects resilience, family support, and a dream to inspire other visually impaired girls to pursue sports.
