India Clears Record ₹67,000 Cr Defence Proposals in Historic DAC Move

In a historic move, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has cleared defence procurement proposals worth a record-breaking ₹67,000 crore ($7.6 billion). The approvals cover a wide range of critical upgrades and indigenous systems aimed at modernizing the Indian Armed Forces under the #AtmanirbharBharat initiative. Key projects include night vision upgrades for BMP-2 vehicles, BARAK-1 missile system enhancements, BrahMos launchers and fire control systems, autonomous naval crafts, mountain surveillance radars, and SPYDER SAM upgrades. Crucially, Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAVs will be procured for the Army, Navy, and Air Force, enhancing India’s ISR capabilities. Additionally, support packages for C-17 and C-130J aircrafts, along with maintenance clearance for S-400 systems, have been sanctioned. This comprehensive defence boost underlines India’s commitment to self-reliance, strategic deterrence, and future readiness.
