General Anil Chauhan’s Tenure as Chief of Defence Staff Extended Till May 2026

The Modi Government has approved the extension of General Anil Chauhan as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, till May 30, 2026, or until further orders. The move ensures continuity in India’s top military leadership at a crucial time, strengthening the nation’s defence and strategic preparedness. General Chauhan, who assumed the role of CDS in September 2022, has been instrumental in fostering synergy and jointness among the three Armed Forces. His extension underlines the government’s emphasis on strong, stable, and forward-looking military leadership.
