DRDO successfully tests Integrated Air Defence Weapon System, boosting India’s multi-layered defence capabilities

In a landmark achievement, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the first flight test of the Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) on 23 August 2025 at 12:30 hrs off the Odisha coast. The IADWS integrates Indigenous QRSAM (Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile), VSHORADS (Very Short Range Air Defence System), and a High-Power Laser Directed Energy Weapon (DEW), making it India’s first multi-layered air defence shield against aerial threats.
