DGP J&K Visits Forward Areas in Kathua to Review Border Security Amid Flood Damage

Kathua, August 30, 2025 – In the wake of incessant rains and flash floods causing extensive damage in border areas, DGP J&K Sh. Nalin Prabhat, IPS, visited forward locations in Kathua district to review border security and flood response measures.

Accompanied by DIG JSK Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, and SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saxena, IPS, the DGP held on-ground inspections along the International Border. At a BSF Border Outpost (BOP), he was briefed by senior BSF officials regarding property loss and damage due to flooding. He also interacted with BSF personnel actively engaged in relief and rescue operations.

During his visit, the DGP inspected the Sahar Khad Bridge and the Lakhanpur–Madhopur Bridge on NH44, both affected by flash floods, and reviewed the traffic situation along the Punjab border. He also interacted with NHAI officials regarding restoration work to ensure smooth connectivity.

Later, the DGP chaired a joint meeting with senior officers of BSF, CRPF, and J&K Police, stressing the need for heightened vigilance in border areas. He reiterated that J&K Police stands firmly with sister agencies to safeguard the region and expedite relief efforts.

Authorities confirmed that security measures have been strengthened while parallel efforts are underway to restore damaged infrastructure.
