JKP Issues Comprehensive Guidelines for Smooth Amarnath Yatra 2025

Headline: JKP Issues Detailed Guidelines to Ensure Smooth and Safe Amarnath Yatra 2025

With the annual Amarnath Yatra attracting lakhs of pilgrims from across the country, the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) has unveiled a detailed coordination and security plan to ensure a safe, smooth, and incident-free pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave shrine. The yatra, which officially commenced earlier this week, is being closely monitored through a multi-layered security framework, supported by real-time coordination between multiple government agencies.

Multi-Tier Security Deployment

The JKP, along with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Border Security Force (BSF), and Indian Army, has put in place a multi-tier security arrangement on both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes.
Key measures include:

  • RFID-based tracking system for every registered pilgrim.
  • Drone surveillance, CCTV coverage, and anti-sabotage checks along the entire route.
  • Deployment of Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and mountain rescue squads in landslide-prone and high-altitude zones.

Traffic & Convoy Coordination

To manage the huge flow of pilgrims and ensure safety along the national highway and yatra routes, JKP has introduced the following protocols:

  • Designated convoy timings with strict departure and arrival slots from Jammu to Baltal/Pahalgam.
  • All vehicles carrying pilgrims are part of escorted convoys with security cover and GPS monitoring.
  • Vehicle checks and passenger verification at multiple control points, including at Nashri Tunnel, Qazigund, and Anantnag.

Important Guidelines for Pilgrims

JKP has issued an advisory urging all pilgrims to:

  • Undertake the yatra only after proper registration with the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).
  • Carry a valid health certificate issued by an authorized doctor.
  • Adhere to dos and don’ts issued by the administration, especially regarding high-altitude precautions.

Items such as arms, explosives, inflammable materials, and drones are strictly prohibited. Violation of these rules will attract immediate legal action.

Unified Command & Daily Briefings

A Unified Command Centre has been established under the leadership of the DGP, J&K Police, to facilitate daily coordination between various forces, civil administration, intelligence units, and the Shrine Board.

Senior officers of JKP are holding daily security briefings to review the situation and adapt deployment plans based on real-time intelligence and weather updates.

Emergency Measures & Helplines

  • Emergency helplines such as 112 are active round-the-clock.
  • Medical teams with oxygen supplies and mountain ambulances are stationed at critical locations.
  • JKP has also deployed special communication teams to ensure connectivity in remote stretches.
