An encounter has broken out in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir after alert troops of the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps established contact with terrorists during an intelligence-based operation on Friday.According to defence officials, the operation was launched in the general area of Kishtwar following credible inputs about terrorist movement. As troops closed in, terrorists opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response. A fierce exchange of gunfire is currently underway.The Army, in coordination with Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security forces, has tightened the cordon around the area to prevent the terrorists from escaping. Reinforcements have been rushed, and drones may also be deployed to track possible hideouts in the dense terrain.Officials said further details will be shared once the ongoing operation concludes. This encounter underscores the continued efforts of security forces to dismantle the terror network in the Chenab Valley region.
