Urgent Safety Audit Ordered for Govt Schools in Jammu

The Directorate of School Education, Jammu, has issued an urgent directive mandating a comprehensive safety audit for all government schools across the division. This decision comes in the wake of recent tragedies nationwide caused by infrastructural lapses and poor preparedness. The order directs CEOs, ZEOs, and Estate Officers to immediately assess structural safety, wiring, fire measures, and evacuation routes. Schools must also conduct emergency preparedness drills, first-aid training, and awareness sessions in coordination with local agencies. To ensure holistic well-being, psychosocial support through counseling has also been mandated. Local bodies and parents have been tasked with identifying gaps in safety measures. All compiled reports must be submitted by 30th August 2025, with non-compliance being taken seriously.
