Bangladesh faces alarming surge in rape cases, Hindu and minority women among worst affected victims.

A shocking report by the Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh Minorities (HRCBM) has revealed an alarming surge in rape cases against Hindu and minority women in Bangladesh. In just the first three months of 2025, 342 cases have been documented, with a horrifying 87% of the victims being minors. Even infants and little girls have fallen prey to this rising wave of violence.

The report strongly criticizes the Yunus-led government, highlighting its inability to protect vulnerable communities and curb the epidemic of sexual violence. Minority groups accuse authorities of negligence, lack of accountability, and systemic discrimination that leaves victims without justice.

Rights activists warn that unless urgent reforms and stronger protections are implemented, the situation may worsen further, eroding faith in governance and human rights protections for Bangladesh’s minority population.
