Pigeon with Threat Note Seized at RS Pura Border, Sparks Security Alert in Jammu Region

In an unusual yet alarming incident, the Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted a pigeon flying across the International Border in the RS Pura sector of Jammu. What appeared to be a routine interception soon turned shocking, as the bird carried a handwritten chit tied to its leg.

The note contained a direct threat of an “IED Blast at Jammu Station,” alongside provocative Urdu slogans: “Kashmir Hamara Hai” and “Waqt Aa Gaya Hai.”

The pigeon was immediately handed over to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for further investigation. Authorities are examining the handwriting, language, and other possible clues to trace the source and intent behind the threat.

Police sources confirmed that security across Jammu, particularly at the railway station and other high-footfall areas, has been significantly tightened. Anti-sabotage checks and patrols have been intensified to prevent any untoward incident.

This is not the first time birds have been used for cross-border messaging. In the past, security forces have intercepted pigeons carrying coded notes, but this incident stands out due to the explicit mention of a terror strike.

Officials described it as an “old-school yet dangerous tactic” of psychological warfare aimed at creating panic. Security agencies are treating the threat seriously, underlining that even unconventional methods can pose real risks.
