The Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory for Jammu & Kashmir, predicting heavy rains and thundershowers between August 17–19. The forecast has raised concerns of cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides in vulnerable areas across the Union Territory.
Districts placed on high alert include Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Samba, Kathua, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, and parts of the Kashmir Valley. Authorities have urged residents and pilgrims to remain cautious, avoid venturing near water bodies, and follow advisories issued by disaster management teams.
Rescue forces, including the Army, SDRF, and police, are on standby to respond to any emergencies. Officials have emphasized preparedness measures to minimize risks and ensure the safety of people, particularly in flood-prone and landslide-prone zones.
