Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif Issues Fresh Threat Over Indus Water Treaty

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a stern warning to India over the Indus Water Treaty, cautioning of “serious consequences” if New Delhi moves to terminate the agreement. He asserted that Pakistan would not allow India to take “even a drop” of its allocated share. This is the fourth threat from Pakistan’s top leadership within 48 hours, following statements by Army Chief Asim Munir, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto, and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif. The heightened rhetoric comes amid growing friction between the two countries over security, trade, and territorial issues. The Indus Water Treaty, brokered by the World Bank in 1960, governs water-sharing arrangements between India and Pakistan. Analysts warn that escalating tensions over the treaty could further strain already fragile diplomatic ties.
