The Indian Army successfully foiled a major Border Action Team (BAT) attack by Pakistani forces and terrorists near Tikka Post in the Uri sector, Jammu & Kashmir, on the intervening night of 12/13 August. The BAT action occurred in the Area of Responsibility of 16 Sikh LI (09 Bihar Advance Party), under the jurisdiction of Police Station Uri. In the fierce exchange of fire, Havaldar Ankit of the Indian Army made the supreme sacrifice while defending the nation. Adverse weather conditions allowed the BAT team to retreat across the Line of Control. This incident highlights the persistent threat along the LoC and the Army’s constant state of readiness to repel such assaults. Security forces remain on high alert in the region to counter any further infiltration attempts.
