JAMMU/RAJOURI, Sept 1: At least 19 families were evacuated after land sinking incidents were reported in Rajouri and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir following heavy rains, officials said.According to authorities, 11 houses were vacated in Rajouri’s Badhaal village, which has been declared a “risk zone,” while eight houses were vacated in Samba district as a precautionary measure. The affected families have been shifted to safer locations, and relief measures are underway.Additional Deputy Commissioner (Kotranka), Dil Mir, confirmed that a vast portion of land in Badhaal village has developed cracks and is gradually sinking, posing a severe risk to life and property.The administration has urged residents to remain alert and assured that all necessary assistance, including temporary shelters and basic supplies, is being provided to the displaced families.
